Art has always been a part of my life, even as a child. While in college I had the good fortune to take several drawing and painting electives for which I credit an ongoing love of all things artistic and creative. Although I went on to a position in the corporate world, I continued to pursue a variety of art courses in various places while working full time and raising a family. The Art Student's League introduced me to pastel, which has become my medium of choice, although I will not abandon charcoal and oil paint. I want my work to be more than a 'visual recording' -my goal is to capture a moment, a memory, or a feeling, whether that manifests in a representational or abstract way on my easel. I am in awe of illustrators such as N.C.Wyeth and Norman Rockwell, and equally inspired by the variety of the work of my colleagues. Whether in ‘plein air’ or in the Artspace Studio in Morristown, NJ, I am most content and fulfilled when a pastel stick or paint brush is in my hand. I have no idea where I am headed as a painter, I just hope to remain open to all painterly possibilities.
