Art has always been a part of my life, even as a child. While in college I had the good fortune to take several drawing and painting electives for which I credit an ongoing love of all things artistic and creative. Although I went on to a position in the corporate world, I continued to pursue a variety of art courses in various places while working full time and raising a family. The Art Student's League introduced me to pastel, which has become my medium of choice, although I will not abandon charcoal and oil paint. I want my work to be more than a 'visual recording' -my goal is to capture a moment, a memory, or a feeling, whether that manifests in a representational or abstract way on my easel. I am in awe of illustrators such as N.C.Wyeth and Norman Rockwell, and equally inspired by the variety of the work of my colleagues. Whether in ‘plein air’ or in the studio, I am most content and fulfilled when a pastel stick or paint brush is in my hand. I have no idea where I am headed as a painter, I just hope to remain open to all painterly possibilities.
